The LIFEorchids project aims at counteracting the current decline, and the risk of extinction, of wild orchids typical of highly biodiverse grasslands, for which the richness in orchids in a key quality indicator. Project actions include: restoration and conservative management of this habitat, reinforcement of the populations of 9 orchid species, engagement of “orchid stewards” and exchange of practices and knowledge between Italy and the Czech Republic.NETWORKING:

The LIFE GRANATHA project aim to carry out a series of conservation actions needed to arrest, but also to reverse, the trend of the evolution and transformation of the heathlands, by restoring their ecological functionality (substantially with the removal of trees and shrubs invasion) and by creating the right conditions for the start of a local production chain that, through the production and marketing of brooms and other tool made by the Erica scoparia, could guarantee a continuous and lasting management of heathlands.NETWORKING:

PROJECT:
The main objective of the project is to improve the conservation status of three types of grassland habitats, recognized as being of Community importance by the Habitats Directive (Habitats 5130, 6210*, 6230*). Through interventions to restore the grasslands, support for the development of existing livestock activities and the creation of new ones, including through the creation of a school for shepherds, the aim is to promote grazing as a tool for sustainable and long-lasting management of these environments.NETWORKING:

PROJECT:
OREKA MENDIAN aims to develop a common strategy to manage mountain pasture areas in the 15 Natura 2000 sites of Euskadi and 8 of Iparralde, finding a balance between their conservation and socioeconomic use.
To this end, OREKA MENDIAN develops pasture management plans that ensure the conservation of flora and the provision of fodder for livestock, undertakes actions for the restoration of vulnerable habitats and the elimination of invasive species, ensures coordination between livestock farmers and conservation experts, collects good practices on mountain pasture management and exchanges with other authorities involved in the management of Natura 2000 areas.
